Join us for our annual grotto auction! The event is held on an annual basis as a fundraiser to help with operational expenses to keep our grotto running and relies on the donation of items from out membership and the purchasing of items by our membership. Things such as hosting a website and having a PO Box cost us money every year. Profit which is traditionally made from the TAG Fall Cave In is given back in the form of grants to the caving community, so the auction is important to help out in house. The Board of Directors is discussing (and hoping) to still give out some grants to the caving community this year even though the TAG Fall Cave In will not be happening.
This year's event will look different than what has occurred in the past, but members and guests are welcome to attend this meeting.
Your lightly used caving gear that has been taking up space would be great to donate so that someone else can put it to use. To donate items to be sold in the auction, please email a picture and a description of the item(s) to chairman@dogwoodcitygrotto.org.
On Sunday (8/2) a page on the website (https://www.dogwoodcitygrotto.org/Grotto-Auction) will activate and the auction will begin. It will be set up as a discussion board where each topic is a different item or package that is in the auction. To bid on an item, comment with your name and your bid in a whole dollar increment.
On Tuesday (8/4) at 7pm, we will host our grotto meeting on Zoom and offer a chance for higher bids to occur before announcing the winner of each item. Following the meeting, the Zoom session will keep rolling and we will have the opportunity to socialize and share caving stories, some off which may be true.
Drop off/Pick up of items will be arranged afterwards. Shipping will be available within reason at the buyer's expense. Payments will be easiest through the website (a page will be set up) but PayPal will also be accepted. Cash and check are also available but will take longer for us to process.
