DOGWOOD CITY GROTTO
This month's presentation will be over advancements in cave survey methods and the Dogwood City Grotto's DistoX2 Loaner Program.
Recent technological advancements in both hardware and software have changed the way cave surveying can be done. Instead of straining to read analog instruments, such as a Suunto device, one can now use a digital DistoX2. This device uses a laser to measure distance, inclination, and azimuth with the press of a single button. The Dogwood City Grotto Board of Directors voted to purchase a DistoX2 as part of the grant program in late 2018 to assist grotto members and cave surveyors in the TAG region.
Come and hear how this device can be borrowed through our grotto's loaner program and used in conjunction with a digital sketchpad to produce accurate cave survey data in less time than traditional methods.
